Chlorpyrifos is a non-systemic organophosphorous insecticide with contact, stomach and respiratory action. The main use is in the agricultural sector, however, chlorpyrifos is also used for control of household insects, and ranges among the most important compounds for control of termites.
Acting through inhibition of cholinesterase enzymes, it is used to control soil and foliar pests including Coleoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera and Thysanoptera in a wide range of row crops, orchards and vegetables.
