Malathion is an organophosphorous insecticide developed and introduced by American Cyanamid in 1952. Cheminova began producing malathion under the trade name Fyfanon® in 1968. In 1991, Cheminova acquired American Cyanamid's malathion business and became the leading manufacturer of malathion.
