You are here: Insecticides Kraft TM

Technical Information

Abamectin acts by stimulating the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neuro transmitter causing paralysis. Its target site is the GABA receptor protein. Due to this unique mode of action the compound is effective in situations where other classic insecticides/acaricides have developed resistance.

The product is translaminar: Once the spray has dried the compound remains inside the leaf tissue and the product has limited contact action so beneficials on the leaf surface do not easily get into contact with the chemical. The product is therefore recommended for use in integrated pest management (IPM) systems. Abamectin can control mites feeding on the untreated side of the leaf even though the product is only applied to the top of the leaf.

The product offers long lasting residual control – up to 30 days. A further benefit attributed to its tranlaminar activity is superior rainfastness compared with other insecticides/acaricides.
